We currently have numerous excellent GP job openings available across Australia, with DPA replacements (previously known as DWS replacements). The DPA map is typically updated on an annual basis, resulting in various locations losing their DPA status. However, when a GP, previously exempt due to DPA status, departs from a practice located in one of these areas where DPA status is no longer applicable, this creates an opportunity to recruit a replacement.

In order to process applications for DPA replacement 19AB exemption, Medicare mandates the submission of several documents. Our Registration Team routinely handles these documents and remains updated on evolving requirements. It is crucial to emphasize that for an application to be approved, the departing GP must:

  • Have worked a significant amount of time on a consistent basis

  • Generally worked more than 5 sessions per week

  • Be willing to sign a number of documents to close their provider number

It is also worth noting that the practice has 12 months to replace the GP before the exemption expires. For any questions please get in touch.
