  • Partially comparable GPs under the PEP Specialist Stream are required to work in a location that is classified as a Distribution Priority Area (DPA) and a Monash Modified Model (MM) 2 or higher rating. These areas can be viewed on the Health Workforce Locator. Whilst these locations are further out from the city, there are additional monetary compensations for this as well as higher patient numbers.

  • While it is advisable to consult with a registered migration agent regarding your specific circumstances, General Practitioners (GPs) are typically classified as a priority occupation by immigration authorities, allowing them access to visa pathways for permanent residency. The usual progression for most GPs involves initially arriving in Australia on a temporary TSS Subclass 482 working visa and then pursuing permanent residency while in the country.

  • Costs for registration in Australia vary depending on your pathway. For Partially Comparable General Practitioners (GPs), here are some estimated costs to anticipate:

    Costs prior to starting work:

    Visa – $3,035 application fee plud $3,035 per adult dependant. $760 for any dependant under 18 years old

    Comparability Assessment – $575

    Program fee – $8,000 (12 months for full-timers and up to 24 Months for part-timers)

    Membership Fee – $474

    AHPRA – $1,600

  • The practice offers various forms of support to assist with your relocation:

    Visa Sponsorship: The practice will cover the nomination fee of $420 and the Skilling Australian Fund fee of $2,400 for a 2-year visa. Fees increase for longer durations.

    Supervision during the PEP Program: The practice will provide and pay for a supervisor to support you during the program.

    Fellowship Exam Support: Assistance will be provided to support you in preparing for fellowship exams.

    Orientation to Australia's Healthcare System: The practice will help familiarize you with Medicare and the Australian healthcare system.

    Role Placement Reservation: A role will be put on hold for you while you make your transition.
